It is a fascinating thing for people entering a social movement to learn about its history. The animal advocacy movement is no exception.
What may surprise vegans who have entered the movement in the last 20 years or so is how new vegan campaigning is. In terms of veganism being absolutely central to what the animal movement does – and central in terms of its claims – then veganism as the movement’s baseline was only established in the 21st century.
